Day 4: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu (B)

Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cuzco (B)

| Free morning at leisure. A guided tour of Cuzco will include visits to the Main Cathedral, the Main Square, Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay and the Qoricancha temple. Overnight accommodation. |
Day 7. Cuzco - amazon rainforest (b, l & d)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport and transfer to your lodge. Afternoon excursions including a guided walk along one of the trails close to the lodge where you may see superb examples of bird and insect life. Take a boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to see the change in the environment as twilight gives way to darkness. Day 8. Amazon rainforest (b, l & d)
Wake up early to observe the sun rise over the Madre de Dios River before the five-minute boat ride takes you to the Canopy Interpretation Centre where you can ascend the first tower, 45 metres (150 feet) above the forest floor. Spend time to see giant strangler fig trees, orchids, toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, and with luck, monkeys or a three-toed sloth. We will then embark on a 40-minute boat ride that takes you to the Tambopata National Reserve. Spend an hour-and-a-half walking the 3 km. (1.8 mile) trail through the wildlife-rich reserve, and you will arrive at the breathtaking oxbow lake called Lake Sandoval. (PHOTO: Lake Sandoval ) |
Day 9. Amazon rainforest - cuzco (b)
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and return by boat to Puerto Maldonado, an hour and a half upriver. Assistance with your luggage, prior to boarding your flight to Cuzco. Arrival and private transfer to your hotel. |
Day 10: Cuzco - Puno (B & L)
Departure by tourist bus to Puno visiting en route several Inca ruins and the remains of the great Viracocha temple, Raqchi. We shall also stop at the highest point along the way, La Raya before arriving to Puno and transferring to your hotel for overnight accommodation. (photo: Raqchi) |
Day 11: Lake Titicaca (B & L)
After breakfast, transfer to the port for the boat trip on Lake Titicaca to the reed islands of Uros. After breakfast, a full day visit of the "marvelous city" including a sightseeing tour to Sugar Loaf Mountain. A two-stage cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy a splendid view of Rio, Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay.
